Is It Ok to Wear the Same Dress Twice
The casual going-out clothes are fine because nobody bats an eyelid if you wear those multiple times but expensive clothes like clothes you wear to weddings, balls, prom... Etc, why is it taboo to repeat those outfits?
It is so annoying that I have a cupboard full of beautiful dresses that I can never wear again - even if the same people don't go to that event because the pictures end up on Facebook.

It apparently is wrong. Life is so expensive for girls!
There's nothing wrong with it, and people who judge you on asinine criteria like that aren't worth impressing.
I think you shouldn't let people pressure you into spending unnecessary amounts of money on clothes, but then again I'm a guy.
I've worn my prom dress for 4 more events since, and my 18th birthday dress for two nights out and one fancy dress.

This is someone's stupid opinion, if you choose to listen and adopt it thats fine but why would you?
Imagine how many designers are tripping over themselves to give free outfits to the Duchess of Cambridge, how many free clothes she has and has access to, and how much financial resource she has to buy whatever she wants.....and yet she wears the same outfits over and over, despite being in every newspaper on the planet every time she steps out the house!
I think the best investments for evening wear are classy, well cut dresses in a single colour that really suits you. I know black is popular if a little ubiquitous, I choose plummy purples, dark royal blue etc. Then accessorise! Statement necklaces/earrings, bold colour coordinated shrugs or wraps can all ring the changes, photos on FB are usually head and shoulders and there are so many looks to easily create providing the dress is understated and timeless.
Even the royals wear the same outfit multiple times, like LolaLowe says.
Because it is expensive duh

Erm who says it is? Usually I never wear the same expensive outfit more than once because I rarely go to formal events that require dresses rather than there being an unspoken rule that I follow.

I think I know where your coming from OP, especially in the Asian community it's so stupid because no one cares what you wear to weddings etc I bet no one even remembers what people wore the last time tbh it's just a way to waste money tbh

I don't have any expensive stuff but I see no problem in wearing the same thing multiple times?
It's not wrong, wear those outfits as often as you want.
I care so little, I'd wear a wedding dress multiple times 
I don't mean to weddings lol like wherever else you can wear one 
Personally I'd only say it's unacceptable to wear the same thing consecutively to an event where the sane people will be there. If it's a different social group, go for it. If you've had another event with that group and wore something different, you can go back to the first dress.
People are dumb if they believe in that.

It's nothing wrong.But you had better not wore the same dress twice if your next party is very close to your previous party.Otherwise,you would be looked down upon the second pageant.
Aside from a wedding dress, who bloody cares? I haven't got enough judgey friends to give a flying fladoodle about something as novel as how often I wear something.
